The Workflow Artist Lab took place in August 2023 at Hull Artists Research Initiative. Workflow was a three day lab for artists, creatives, sound designers, walkers and anyone with a keen interest in how digital experiences can be laid over physical locations. It was a practical co-created and taught environment that enabled people to think about new projects, using open source methodologies. The lab looked at how mobile web can enable artists/creatives to make responsive works that capture the imagination.
The lab was hosted by Hull Artist Research Initiative (HARI), an artist-led, not for profit, experimental multidisciplinary arts venture set up in 2021.
Their core areas of interest are research, experimentation and engagement, concerned with process and enquiry rather than finished product.
HARI encourages artists to value and share their making processes and research phases through residencies, discussion, exhibitions and events. With these activities HARI aims to increase understanding by audiences of the rationale and richness of research behind finished artworks. They support artists to do this by including both targeted groups and general publics in these processes.
